Argentina Travel: The Top Nature UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Argentina
An UNESCO World Heritage Site is
selected by a committee of 21 countries who determine the best that
humanity and nature have created. All World Heritage Sites must be of
exceptional universal value and should be honored and preserved for
future generations. Argentina is home to eight World Heritage Sites, a
mixture of cultural and natural wonders, all of which should be visited
on your Argentina vacation. If you are looking to experience the best of
Argentina's nature visit these three World Heritage sites during your
travel to Argentina.
On your Argentina trip visit the
marvelous Iguazu National Park. This 1984 World Heritage Site is home
to the Iguazu Falls. The magnificent waterfalls straddle the border
between Argentina and Brazil and can be visited from both countries. The
Iguazu falls are arguably the grandest system of waterfalls in the
world; comprised of 275 distinct waterfalls they are truly spectacular.
The park has an upper and lower circuit of footpaths for guests to
explore the waterfalls. Alternatively guests can take a boat ride which
puts you at the base of the crashing waters of the different falls.
Valdes Peninsula located in the
Patagonia of Argentina is perfect for any nature or wildlife lover. The
reserve covers over 1,400 acres and is of significance for its efforts
in conservation of marine mammals. At Valdes Peninsula there is a colony
of more than 800 seals and the largest population of southern right
whales one of the World's endangered species. Travelers can take a whale
watching tour between the months of June and December.
Los
Glaciares National Park in the rugged Patagonia is home to the
marvelous Perito Moreno glacier and was named a World Heritage Site in
1981 and for good reason. As part of the Patagonian Continental Ice
Field, the park covers over 8,500 square miles, and features two of
Argentina's most spectacular lakes: Lake Argentina and Lake Viedma. With
over 45 major glaciers, Los Glaciares National Park is the best place
